The Coldest Cruise

The Happy Couple

Dave always plans an amazing trip each year for my birthday and this year was no different.  We planned a 5 day cruise to Cozumel Mexico on Carnival Cruise Lines.  We headed south on Saturday to visit with friends.  It just so happened that Huntsville got a rare measurable snowfall and that Mobile had a high temperature in the 40’s the day that we departed.  Even though I had packed nothing long sleeved, I wasn’t worried, I had faith that soon it would be warm enough for all those short sleeve shirts that I had packed.  Tuesday was warmer and I had hope.  I read outside on the deck for a while, not quite warm enough to swim, but we still had 3 more days of the cruise left.  The next day we arrived to Cozumel, albeit to a cloud filled, rainy Cozumel.  Dave and I walked the shops in the downtown section.  We awoke Thursday, not only to clouds, but also to a wicked wind that was causing mighty big waves on the normally peaceful Carribean.  I finally broke down and bought a jacket at the gift shop.  What I have always wanted, a jacket that says Carnival on it:)  Anyway, at least with the jacket, I was able to stand on deck for brief periods.  We sailed into Mobile.  Granted, it was a little warmer than 40 for the high, but the heat in the car sure felt good!  Now, before you think that I thought this vacation was a bust, read on!  On the contrary, it was a very relaxing romantic way to celebrate my 40th birthday with the man that I love.  We enjoyed all of the time on the ship, and clouds, or sunshine, the water always provides a breathtaking view!
